Outer Reaches 2023 Announced!

Outer Reaches Announces Boundary-Pushing Music Festival Featuring Bombino & Sweeping Promises

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The organizers of Outer Reaches, an annual live music festival operating since
2012, have announced the official date for the 2023 events. Friday October 13 and Saturday October 14 at recordBar (1520 Grand
Blvd) in Kansas City, Missouri will mark the date and location for the festivities of Outer Reaches 2023.

Outer Reaches is a music festival based in Kansas City that showcases ‘out there’, left-of-center artists pushing boundaries in their
respective genre. Regional acts as well as national and international touring acts are a part of the festival’s spirit, celebrating
the variety of freethinking music around the globe.

The Friday October 13 headliner is the sound of Sahara’s next generation, Bombino. Omara “Bombino” Moctar is a Tuareg singersongwriter and guitarist from Niger. On a world tour for his new album Sahel, he continues the momentum of 2018’s Deran which
was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album. Friday’s lineup also features Kansas City psychedelic rock bands
The Philistines and Saving Miles Lemon as well as indie-folk multi-instrumentalist Teri Quinn. XO Blackwater will provide the video
projection and visuals for the evening.

The Saturday October 14 show is a two-stage event. The Les BonsBons Electrique stage features a headliner of Lawrence, Kansas
post-punk / new wave duo Sweeping Promises. Their new album Good Living is Coming for You was released in June on Feel it
Records / Sub Pop Records. They are joined by Wichita, Kansas neo soul group Keo & Them, Kansas City shoegaze / new wave /
post-punk duo Static Phantoms, and Kansas City synth-tastic beat guru Alyssa Murray. The Kansas City Synthesizer Collective is a
group of local synthesizer enthusiasts who enjoy sharing and performing what they have learned from their generated audio signal
instruments. Their stage features performances by three local artists: Wrker, Agrekulture, and Bobcat Attack. A headlining slot is
reserved for Detroit, Michigan post-punk bizarro-pop group Summer Like the Season.

Outer Reaches 2023 is a partnership between the festival and Midwest Music Foundation. Midwest Music Foundation (MMF), a
nonprofit organization founded in 2008, provides health care assistance, education, and resources to the Kansas City music
community, and receive a portion of proceeds from ticket sales from the event. Sponsors for this year’s fest include Tito’s Handmade

Outer Reaches Explores the World 2018

Outer Reaches is pleased to announce the first of two events for 2018. Outer Reaches Explores the World 2018 is a new format with an emphasis on artists inspired by rhythms and traditional instruments of the world, who have incorporated this sound in creative ways to construct new boundary-pushing music. This isn’t a “world music” event per se and will still feature the familiar format of left-of-center music, it just has more of a worldly feel to it. This special event has been made possible through a grant from the Kansas City Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund and will function as a benefit for Midwest Music Foundation. Special promotions courtesy of KKFI 90.1 FM. We will still have our regular two-day main event of Outer Reaches in the fall. Stay tuned for more news on that announcement.
