Outer Reaches Announces Boundary-Pushing Music Festival Week
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The organizers of Outer Reaches, an annual live music festival operating since 2012, have announced the official date for the 2022 events. Friday October 14 and Saturday October 15 at recordBar (1520 Grand Blvd) in Kansas City, Missouri will mark the date and location for the dual-stage festivities of the 10th edition of Outer Reaches. Two bonus Outer Reaches Presents shows will precede the festival on Sunday October 9 and Tuesday October 11 at recordBar.
Outer Reaches is a music festival based in Kansas City that showcases ‘out there’, left-of-center artists pushing boundaries in their respective genre. Regional acts as well as national and international touring acts are a part of the festival’s spirit, celebrating the variety of freethinking music around the globe.
The music of Outer Reaches 2022 will be showcased over two stages at recordBar. The Friday lineup features a night of dark electronic music. Nebraska’s leather-clad industrial noise / body music project Plack Blague headlines the night, joined by Des Moines, Iowa Halloween-themed synth duo Night Stories. A quintuple of Kansas City artists round out the night: psychedelic synth group Monta at Odds; dark electronic / witchwave project Morgue VVitch; electronic “soulgaze” / “garage disco” outfit Collidescope; queer dark-pop group Boxknife; and downtempo electropop artist Loqsa. The Saturday lineup features two warhorses of the Midwest rock music scene; Chicago’s eclectic art rock band Cheer-Accident and Kansas City post-hardcore noise-rock band Season to Risk. Joining them on the night are Los Angeles’ experimental voodoo blues group Peculiar Pretzelmen and another quintuple of Kansas City artists: psychedelic pop group The Moose; twin sister sparkly witch-rock band The Black Mariah Theater; experimental psychedelic indie songwriter Jacob E.chord; looping vocal exorcist She Speaks in Tongues; and experimental dance project Composition of Dance. XO Blackwater provides the video projection / visuals for both evenings.
Preceding the 10th Outer Reaches festival will be two bonus Outer Reaches Presents shows. Sunday October 9 at recordBar will feature MVTANT (San Antonio), Kris Baha (Berlin), New Obsessions, and Weaponize Chomsky. Tuesday October 11 at recordBar will feature Melt-Banana (Japan), HXXS, and The Bad Ideas.
